The Greatest Show on Earth

On Sunday, September 9th, the circus came to town!  No, it wasn't just a typical day in the Jewell household...the actual Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily Circus came to Rupp Arena!  We thought the boys might enjoy it and decided to go, but not before our weekend breakfast of pancakes!

Doesn't everyone eat their mini pancakes while wearing sunglasses?

Meme joined us for the day, too!

Sunday was actually Grandparents' Day, too.  Thankfully, Creation Kingdom, reminded me because I'm embarrassed to say, I forgot!  The lovely ladies at daycare helped Elliott and Isaac make hand prints for Meme.

Isaac enjoyed a little sunglasses time, too.  I think he was preparing for our upcoming trip to the beach!

I can see it now..."Hello, ladies!"

As a child, I always enjoyed the circus so I was very excited to share this experience with Isaac and Elliott!  They were first amazed by all of the sounds and people in Rupp!

Then the circus began...

And, they were in shock!  So many lights, sounds, movements, people, animals...so much to see!  The boys stared in amazement!  Bob actually noticed their eyes watering throughout the show.  We think they were watching so intently that they forgot to blink!

Everyone enjoyed different parts of the circus.

Elliott's favorite was the bikes on the high wire!  Actually, it was probably just the bikes.  He spotted them hanging as soon as we sat down!

Isaac and Meme both enjoyed the same part, except Isaac enjoyed the "cats" where Meme enjoyed the tigers!

I enjoyed the fiery human slingshot!

And, Bob...well, Bob enjoyed the elephants!  He was cracking up at the event pictured below!Apparently, we were present for the stinkiest show of their Rupp Arena visit.  Lucky us!

When I remember going to the circus as a child, I always picture the photo below.  It is nice to realize some things from exciting childhood remain the same into adulthood!

I don't know if it was this particular circus show, but this was the best circus I have ever attended.  I'm thinking it was the best because of the precious family who shared this experience with me!

The boys "walk walk" every where they go now.  So big!

What a fun outing!

Isaac and Elliott practiced jumping all the way to the jeep!

After the circus, we went to Ramsey's for supper.  I believe it just may be our favorite family restaurant...fresh ingredients, pie, and ice cream...what's not to love!
Elliott was done with pictures, but Isaac's face cracks me up!

We enjoyed a fantastic day experiencing Elliott and Isaac's first circus!
The Greatest Show on Earth!

23 Months Old

I cannot believe that Elliott and Isaac are nearing the end of their sticker picture days!  It is somewhat sad...there is only one sticker left in the envelope.  And, then they will be two years old!

Elliott was very cooperative, sitting so politely!
He has a new hair cut and was perfect again for "Judee" (Judy) when she cut his hair!  He is talking so much these days.  He talks about everything he sees and hears, constantly alerting us to bikes, cars, cows, and neigh-neighs!

Isaac, on the other hand, was a wild man!  (Doesn't he look cute with his hair cut by "JuJu" (Judy)When the climber was his first place to escape to, we knew it was going to be difficult to get him to sit still!  He is constantly on the move.  He now jumps with both feet off of the ground!  He also talks often and likes to give instructions.  He enjoys keeping tabs on Otto and the cats.  He also loves to help us cook and clean!

Ready to run!

And, he did!  We have also learned this month that when Isaac sticks his tongue out, either mischief or trouble follows (be sure to notice the tongue in several photos)!

He looks like such a little boy!  His baby face is disappearing, but his smile is lasting joy!

Sweet face

Goofy face

Constant movement in our house...whether on foot or on wheels, Elliott and Isaac are always on the go!

I included the following photo because I thought it really showed how different their body types are.  Isaac is lean and Elliott has a bit of a bootie!

Notice the tongue...Isaac was preparing to push Elliott as soon as Bob let go.

After all that wildness, the sweet and precious side comes out!
They both really love books!  They will sit and look at books on their own, pretending to read, and always enjoy when we read to them (we enjoy it too!).

Happy 23rd month to Elliott and Isaac!

You say Tomato...

Elliott says yummy!  He may look like Bob, but he has my love of tomatoes!  Bob brought in a few Roma tomatoes from our yard and Elliott took a bite from one just as if he was biting an apple.  He has never done that before but looked had eaten millions that way!

He had a mouthful of yumminess!

Isaac tried it...

But decided tomatoes are not for him!

I'm so excited that another person in my house enjoys my favorite food, fresh tomatoes!

Wild Jewell Boys for President!

On just a random Friday (September 7th), we had a lot of fun!  The boys were especially happy and silly.  After supper, they got a burst of energy and decided to jump off of their climber!

Isaac was a big jumper.  He would stand at the edge for a second planning, then take a big leap!

Elliott was just the opposite.  He ran full force with no warning or preparation!

Have I ever mentioned that my boys enjoy wrestling?

While finishing the night time routine, Isaac was apparently inspired by Butt Paste.  What started out as a simple reading of a tube, turned out to be something quite dramatic with an inspirational tone!  We joked that he must have watched President Obama the evening before at the DNC.  If only we knew what he was saying!  Even without knowing, such passion (and adorableness) would get my vote!

Elliott could not let brother outshine him.  He was also quite inspired!  I think he is a little more preachy with his reading and exclamation about the Butt Paste!  He may be just a little wishy-washy on his views, but he sure works the room well!  Again, I sure wish I knew what he was saying!  He's got confidence and a million dollar smile, so he gets my vote, too!
