Woodland Art Fair

On Saturday, August 18th, we went on a family outing to the Woodland Art Fair.  Last year, the boys and I went with Meme while Bob was in China.  This year, our world traveler was home for the fun!  The artists had some beautiful crafts!  We did lots of walking and window shopping!

A beautiful day for a walk

Isaac and Elliott enjoyed watching the people at the skate park doing jumps and tricks.  They stared in amazement and every now and then would utter "whoa"!

After taking in all of the crafts, we stopped at the gazebo for a bit of lunch and some live music.

After a few bites, Isaac and Elliott enjoyed their stroller-free freedom!  They would run to the fence, look at the people in the pool, and run back (with some encouragement from their parents to return)!

We sat next to a very neat tree for our picnic.  So, of course, we had to snap some photos!  Isaac and Elliott loved the tree.  They ran around it and even had their first tree-climbing experience!  I love to watch them explore and discover!

After a fun afternoon, we headed back to the car and loaded up the boys!  We did a tailgate diaper change and the boys realized how fun it is to stand in the back area!

What a fun day with our happy, smiling boys!

22 Months Old

Once again, we slacked on taking timely sticker pictures this month.  Their 22-month session was held a couple of weeks late on Saturday, August 18th.  Overall, Isaac and Elliott were more cooperative this month and actually sat in their chairs as I envisioned!

Before I got so behind on blogging, I had imagined updating on all of their developmental changes during each sticker picture post.  Now, they are changing so quickly, I cannot keep up!  Since 18-months old, both their signing and verbal vocabulary has exploded!  At the end of July, the started putting short phrases together!

My favorite phrase so far from Isaac...
We were at Kroger one evening and I was attempting to look to see if a new tooth had broken through.  He promptly told me "No, Mama. My teeth. Go!"  With the word "go", he waved me away!

Elliott jabbers all the time now!  We thought he would be the more quiet boy.  He ends nearly every phrase with "Dada" or "Mama".  Often, he tells us when a truck, car, motorcycle, or plane passes as he loves all things transportation.  He sure is telling us lots and it won't be long before we understand every word!

After staying in their chairs long enough for a few shots, it was play time!

The following was a lucky, unprompted shot...

This is what happens when we try to recreate the moment for a planned shot...
Isaac and Elliott have plans of their own!

Of course, those other plans include wrestling!  I particularly enjoy this sequence!
The pretend hug...

The face lift...

The "gotcha brother" back bend...

Wrestling is only paused for one thing...the Muppets!  Or "Bapups" as Isaac and Elliott say!  I found one of my favorite childhood movies, The Muppets Take Manhattan, in the $5 movie bin at Wal-Mart.  So, I bought it for myself.  Little did I know, the boys would love it more than I do!  I think they would watch it on repeat all day long if we would allow them!  They stare, dance, and sing at "Fog" (Kermit)!  Here is proof at how this movie sucks them in...

Happy 22nd month, Isaac and Elliott!

Happy Birthday, Bob!

August 17th was Bob's birthday!  His age varies, depending on what day you ask!  What never varied was his plan for a fun birthday!  Bob and I both had the day off of work, so we went on a lunch date and to see a movie.  After picking up the boys from daycare, we went to eat supper at Ramsey's (Yes, we love Ramsey's!)!  We all enjoyed our delicious meals and celebrated with pie and ice cream!

Cute smiles from cute boys!

Isaac could not be bothered for a photo...eating is way more important!

Instead of pie, Isaac and Elliott celebrated with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  They do very well using their spoons, but Isaac had a great idea during this visit.  Why waste ice cream when you can drink the melted part from the bowl!
I think he looks a little like Colonel Sanders...ice cream handle-bar mustache and goatee!

After supper, we walked the length of the shopping center to run off some ice cream energy!

Then it was back home for presents!  Daddy had some excellent helpers!

Isaac enjoyed the card envelopes, while Elliott enjoyed the ribbon!

Happy Birthday to Bob!

Red Robin...Yum!

On Thursday, August 9th, Meme was in town to get her hair cut.  We had planned to meet her for supper at Red Robin.  Unfortunately, Bob became sick so missed out on yummy burgers.  Typically, when we eat out, we take Elliott and Isaac's sippy cups.  I request a glass of water to refill them as needed.  On this night, the water brought them kids cups of water.  They had the straws in their mouths before I could object, so I thought I would see what happened, fully anticipating a huge mess!  Much to my surprise, they did a fantastic job and we only had one spill!  Because Bob was not there, I took some pictures on my phone to share with him.

Red Robin is a fun place to eat!  Lots of meals to choose from...

And, lots of things to look at...

I took a couple of phone videos of the boys drinking from their straws to share with Bob.
I have watched them many times because they make me happy, so I'm sharing them with you!

Big thanks to Meme for supper and for straw handling!

I apologize...I was not as organized as I thought and this post is a bit out of order but I thought the videos were too funny not to share!

Orange

Colors are associated with many things.  Currently, in the Jewell household, the color orange means Isaac and Elliott are growing up too quickly!  On Monday, August 13th, the boys transitioned to their next room at Creation Kingdom.  They are now in the Orange Room with Ms. Brionna and Ms. Katie.  While this room will offer more activities to engage their busy minds and bodies, we sure will miss their Red Room teachers, Ms. Paige, Ms. Kristie, and Ms. Brandy!  They have been so good to Elliott and Isaac and they love them so much!  Thankfully, they are just a half wall away and the boys will still see them every day.  Below are a few photos from their first official day in the Orange Room.  The photos are similar, but I liked them all for different reasons so I included all four!

Love Isaac's waffle-stuffed face and Elliott's smile!

Everyone say "tease"!

Love Isaac's smile while Elliott is still cheesing!

Of course, I love Bob in all of the shots, too!

Do I take a lot of photos?

Apparently, the answer is a big YES!
On Monday evening, after our weekend visit with Aunt Jen and Aunt Elizabeth, Isaac discovered how to use his broom as a stick horse so of course, I had to take a photo...
Love the tongue sticking out for concentration!
He had a huge drink (i.e. play in) at the water fountain at daycare, so we were in the process of changing into dry clothes.

I promptly got out my camera to take a picture of Isaac.  I looked up from my camera to find Elliott pretending to take a picture of Isaac with my phone!

Isaac requested Bob's phone, so he could pretend to take a picture of Elliott pretending to talk on my phone!

Taking pictures of each other!

Silly boys!
They both continually yelled "tease, tease" at each other!
"Tease" = cheese

This was a good lesson for Mommy that the are really watching everything I do now!
