On the morning of their second birthday, Isaac and Elliott participated in their last monthly "sticker picture" session! While these photos have seemed like a chore some months, the outcome is always worth the momentary stress. This session was a little bittersweet. It marks the last time they will wear onesies, which to me is a sign of their baby days. As the boys were mostly cooperative, I reflected on our previous sessions...from propping them both up on the same Boppy during the first months, to keeping them from sliding out of the leather chair when they were learning to sit, to trying to catch their attention when they were learning to crawl, to trying to keep them in their chairs as they mastered running...always a challenge, but so worth it to have the memories! I included several shots from this month of these adorable toddler, two-year old boys!
Isaac and Elliott are so much fun these days! Bob and I have tried to think of special things they are doing now that we would like to remember. Here are a few...
We enjoy watching them interact with each other. Wrestling matches still occur daily, but we are seeing some conversation and sibling helpfulness as well. Their most commonly used phrase is "Where go?" Both boys ask "Where go?" about anything and everything, several times a day!
They enjoy all vehicles and spend lots of time looking at books. Their imaginations are developing and so neat to see as they show their stuffed horses ("Neigh neigh") different toys, read them books, and explain what the horses can see out of the car window.
Their favorite movie of the moment is "The Little Engine that Could". The Muppets Take Manhattan and Thomas the Tank Engine are still favorites, too. Thankfully, they always agree on which movie they want to watch...at least for now.
Both Elliott and Isaac enjoy Mumford and Sons. They request to listen to their cd often in the car. Most recently, they have become particularly fond of their song, "The Cave" asking for "more more" when it ends. It is so cute to hear them "sing" along!
They are both becoming more aware of their surroundings and are surprisingly us daily with their words and memories. Each day when we are waiting to pull into the neighborhood, they sign and say "home". It took me by surprise on the first day they did this to realize they are recognizing their home.
After daycare each day, they have a routine. Isaac asks for a "nack" (snack) and then Elliott promptly reminds us that they would like a "crackie bowl" (bowl of crackers, Ritz, goldfish, or animal, they are not picky). It makes me laugh every single time!
Love these smiles!
During Isaac's 24th month, he continues to be a silly, giggly boy with a mischievous side! He loves his trains, trucks, and tractors. No truck or airplane makes it through Lexington without him noticing! He can hear and see a plane well before we ever realize one is in the sky. He has really taken to the animals and is always aware of Miles and Cleo's whereabouts. He makes sure Otto goes outside and if it were up to Isaac, Otto would be fed every time his bowl is empty. Currently, his favorite foods are any fruit (which he pronounces "foot") and meats. He is willing to try most all foods we give him. He has become such a good helper! He loves to clean with his broom and help with supper preparations. His laughs always make my heart smile!
During Elliott's 24th month, he has started really watching and taking note of his surroundings as well as the people around him! He keeps tabs on everyone in our family and what they are doing. He definitely enjoys when everyone is doing activities together. He also has started talking more about his day at school, his teachers, and his friends. He loves his trains, trucks, and tractors! He may just be a farm boy with his love for tractors and heavy machinery. Elliott has started talking more, but often leaves the sounds of the middle letters out of his words. He sounds a bit British at times! Currently, his favorite foods are cheese and fruits. He has been favoring ham as his only meat of choice, but would eat cheese every meal of the day if we would let him. His sweet smile always makes my day!
These are the facial expressions that happens when "The Little Engine that Could" becomes really interesting...
And these expressions occur when Daddy does something totally silly...
It is amazing how much Elliott and Isaac have changed from their 13th month to their 24th month! They have definitely transitioned from baby to little boy!
What a joy these precious boys are to us! We are blessed to be their parents!
