On Sunday, August 14th, we ventured to Boyd Orchard for an afternoon of fall fun. Before heading to the orchard, we had to catch up on some chores. Imagine my surprise when I came up from doing laundry to find all of my boys washing dishes! I hope Elliott and Isaac continue to think chores are enjoyable for a long time!
Because of the most recent guidelines, we kept the car seats facing the rear of the car until speaking with Dr. Wells at their two year old well-child visit. She gave us the green light to turn their seats around, so Elliott and Isaac enjoyed their first forward-facing ride! Since we are no longer using Wubbas in the car, the forward-facing seats provided a nice distraction. They hardly realized monkey and giraffe were nowhere to be found!
It was a pleasant afternoon. Rain was predicted and it was a bit overcast. Actually, it was quite perfect for a visit to the orchard...no jackets needed and no crowds of people present! The boys loved running through the "pa-pahs" (pumpkins) in front of the store at Boyd's!
Notice Isaac's tongue...the sign of a wild boy! |
Isaac and Elliott spotted the train shortly after we arrived. They talked about the train nonstop until we rode it. They continued to talk about it nonstop even after our ride!
Orchard mug shots?
After running a bit, we took a "tractie ride". The boys were incredibly excited to see a tractor pulling the hay wagons! If we had done nothing more than ride the wagon...excuse me, the "tractie"...they would have been content the entire day!
We took a brief visit to the petting zoo. Isaac and Elliott were quite brave and stood very close to the fence!
While in the petting zoo, it started to sprinkle. Elliott and Isaac were not phased by the rain. They wanted to go back to the front of the store and play in the barn. They also enjoyed pulling each other in the wagons.
Silly boys!

A comfy seat? |
After a wagon ride to the car with our pumpkins, Isaac and Elliott discovered some balls in the back of the Jeep. They had so much fun throwing and kicking the balls and running around the field with Bob. I had so much fun watching all three boys playing, running, and belly laughing! As much fun as the orchard was, watching the three of them enjoy the simplicity of an open field was my favorite moment of the day!
No trip to the Boyd's is complete without apple cider doughnuts and Elliott and Isaac agree! After the first bite, they both enthusiastically exclaimed "Yum!" By the time we pulled out of the parking area, the two little Jewells had shared three doughnuts!
Though we had a lovely fall day, we had a summer moment after arriving home. Bob discovered we had a couple of ripe tomatoes on our vines. I was very excited! Apparently, Elliott was too, as he requested them. He ate two, like apples, before I could even think about taking a bite! Isaac was not a fan of the tomatoes but did enjoy feeding them to Elliott!
Check out the double-chin/lip action! |
