On October 6th, Isaac and Elliott turned two years old!
When they woke up as sleepy, calm boys, they had no idea what the day had in store for them!
After the sticker picture session, they opened a couple of gifts from Daddy and Mommy. Isaac quickly unwrapped both of his and said "more", while Elliott paused for a while and looked at every page in his book.
Our family of four had a morning of play time and then the boys took a long nap. When they finally woke from their nap, the guests had arrived for their second birthday party!
"Choo Choo, Isaac and Elliott are two!"
Here are a few details from the party...
Train banner using their sticker pictures from 13 to 24 months! |
A train to haul the food! |
Water tower and Diesel fuel (iced tea) |
Sweet treats of thanks |
The boys were a bit groggy from their naps, so this is the best we could do for a pre-party photo...
They were so surprised to see everyone downstairs! We took advantage of their state of shock to take a family photo and a parent photo with each birthday boy!
After the initial surprise wore off, Elliott and Isaac wasted no time in joining in the fun with Bryce and Tessa! They always love their cousin time! While they played, the guests visited.
For supper, Elliott and Isaac enjoyed the fresh fruit tray, cornbread, cheese, and crackers. In addition to those options, everyone else enjoyed fresh veggies, potato soup, chili, and pimento cheese sandwiches.
The kiddos finished supper before the adults, so the boys included Bryce in their birthday party wrestling match!
Elliott was such a good helper to Great Gram! When she was finished at the table, he brought her walker to her. Service with a hug!
Elliott and Isaac were excited to open their presents and actually tried to sneak a few peeks before gift time. This year they did not need much assistance; they really enjoyed tearing the paper or looking under the tissue to see what was in a bag. It was fun to see their excitement and surprise with each opening! Of course, they wanted to play with each and every gift. If we had followed their timeline, we could have opened gifts all night!
Tessa received a visit from Otto! He was quite calm despite the birthday excitement. |
Elliott thought opening gifts was exhausting! |
We ended a fantastic party with cake and ice cream! For this birthday, we began the tradition of having a cake for each birthday boy. They may share a birthday, but they are two different boys and that necessitates two cakes!
Elliott's cake was chocolate with buttercream frosting. Isaac's cake was pumpkin with cinnamon buttercream frosting. |
Rodney gave Isaac a preview of the deliciousness! |
Two boys, two cakes, and two rounds of singing "Happy Birthday"!
Happy Birthday to Elliott!
Elliott blew out his candle...after he tried to put it out with his fingers! |
Happy Birthday to Isaac!
Isaac had a little help from Daddy to blow out his candle. Jewell teamwork! |
Thanks to Greg for capturing the moments on video!
Isaac and Elliott enjoyed their cake and ice cream! What a very different birthday compared to last year...these two year old boys asked for forks instead of digging in with their fingers!
Elliott played peek-a-boo with the party guests in the den, while Isaac ate his third bowl of ice cream!
What a great birthday celebration with fantastic family and friends!
An early music lesson with Lynn! |
Isaac giving Great Gram a good-bye hug! |
Nina and the boys! |
Tessa signing the guest book! |
Isaac's way to prevent me from taking his picture...go flat as a pancake! |
Silly giggles with Aunt Leigh! |
The men of the house! |
Expending the last bit of birthday energy!
In a daze as they say goodbye to the guests |
What better way to end a wonderful choo-choo birthday than to relax with "The Little Engine that Could"! Our little engines were exhausted!
Thanks to all of our party guests for celebrating Isaac and Elliott's second birthday! It was great to visit with everyone and see the joy on the faces of the birthday boys! We are so fortunate to have amazing family and friends!
Happy 2nd Birthday, Isaac and Elliott!
Such a lovely birthday bash. Our niece is turning 5 years old and to have some fun time with family we would be hosting a picnic themed birthday bash for her. The décor items are already created by the kids in our family but if you folks have any recommendations for an event space NYC then please let me know!
